Great people talk about ideas...

Great people talk about ideas, average people talk about things, small people talk about other people. It's a quote originally attributed to the late and great Eleanor Roosevelt but don't quote me on that. From the state of things today I would like to bring the quote into the web 2.0 world by suggesting: "Great people talk about ideas, average people talk about other people, small people talk about the s**t they had for breakfast. I can see a real danger here, a society with inhabitants that in full honest and painfully cronical narcissism think that it would be of anyones interest what they had for breakfast, texture of bowel movements, haircuts had, dinners cooked (unless exceptionally expensive and/or difficult to concoct in order to evoke envy or awe in one's brothers heart, a behaviour of which I approve). I have had an epiphany however, and that is what Twitter is for! It feels good to have finally broken the raison d'aitre of Twitter, really good, fingerlickin' good. I suddenly realizing I'm deviating from my original mission statement in only my second posting so let's do a loopback and wrap it: I don't know if it's a sustainable business model defining your core customer as a sickeningly self centered moron.

Today I set forth a call for action of sorts, let's encourage everyone using the social media stage to communicate to the world to at least once every 4th posting a THOUGHT. It doesn't have to be profound, instead of saying "I had cereal for breakfast this morning" it could be "Hmmm, I wonder why I always get the same toy in my cereal boxes so that I am unable to collect the full series of the plinketiplonks I so desire to have". Believe me, it will make the world a better place, not only is it wildly more entertaining as it can be read from a variety of angles, if I have to explain that last one you're lost anyway so I won't. But, and more importantly, it invokes THOUGHT in the readers mind and thus we have a positive pass-it-on circle of articulate THOUGHT.

Thinking leads to ideas, ideas lead (usually) to a better world. Think about that when you feel the urge to share to the world what everyone does, every day, without thinking about it.

It's go-live time

Well, who woulda known, my inaugural entry in a "blog". That calls for a mission statement, a vision, a business plan. Sorry, won't happen, what you will get is my ramblings around business, everything from Kaizen and Lean to more earthbound matters. It will not happen often as I will limit my entries that might matter. I will be diligent in asking myself the question: "-would I be interested if someone else wrote this?". I'm not interested in what people have for breakfast, hell, I'm not even interested in what I have for breakfast. So, there you have a vision and a mission statement of sorts. The business model is still to be figured out. For the few of you out there that will ever read the raging lunatic rantings here will note that my preferred language will be english, live with it, it's about catchment area, greedy bastard that I am.

Live well until next time.
